Power Hub
The Foundation⁰ Power Hub just finished its first operational event: providing renewable energy to the BCN sail team during the America’s Cup. The Power Hub has three main purposes: to provide renewable energy, to act as a testing and validation platform for new developments, and to show the public what’s possible with sustainable technology.
The sail team put together a list of the systems the Power Hub had to include:
- Electricity harvesting and retention
- Heat harvesting and retention
- Cooling
- Water
The actual energy balance of the team base was displayed on a screen and could be visited through the app - to showcase realtime supply and demand.
America's Cup
The Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup is took place between August and October 2024 in the beating heart of Barcelona.
It is the oldest international sporting trophy – dating back to 1851 – and stands as one of the hardest sporting endeavours. The New York Yacht Club, one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, held the trophy for 132 years before losing it in 1983 to Australia. Since then, the Cup has only been won by teams from the United States, Switzerland, and New Zealand. The current Defender of the America's Cup is Emirates Team New Zealand, representing the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
